I have to give credit for those folks who said that having kids was the best thing that happened to them. I certainly agree with that. My 2 boys are the greatest. It has been work, but I never regret them being in my life.
Daniel, or as we call him, Big D, is a tank. He's growing fast and is doing really good. We call him Big D because he is so much bigger than his brother. He's a slow eater, but he's started smiling and figuring out his hands and the environment. The doctor said his tone was low: he was having trouble holding his head up in a good position. He's doing better with that.
Ian is our little guy. He's probably 2 pounds less than Daniel now. He had grown, but he's had some setbacks. First, he developed reflux. We had to give him medicine, it didn't work, then tried another couple of things and he's doing better. He was born with a hemangioma on his back. It looks like a raised red birthmark. It wasn't supposed to be a real problem, but about 3 weeks ago, it started to bleed and now had to be treated everyday. He had a reaction to the medicine he was on to slow the growth, so we took him off of it. We find out tomorrow what we need to do to make him more comfortable, because he can't even lay on it without experiencing pain.
My wife and I have had to sleep in a recliner with Ian on our stomachs so he wouldn't have to lay on his back. This isn't the best solution, because of SIDS, but we're trying to play it safe.
In total, I have dropped both boys at least once. I fell asleep while holding Daniel and a loud thud woke me up. Next thing I know, Daniel is face down with a little rug burn on his head. I felt awful. Then, I fell asleep in the recliner with Ian and didn't put the foot rest out. I heard a thud and he was on the floor. I read that people drop their babies all the time and with more dramatic experiences, but still it's something I hate being responsible for.
I just thought I would share some of my experiences over the last month. The wife and I are trying to get our relationship ironed out, but the boys make it worth the effort.
